HTC Declares New Vive Pro Eye VR Headset With Native Eye Tracking
HTC declared a new edition of its high-end Vive Pro VR headset at CES that has built-in & native eye tracking. The headset is dubbed as the Vive Pro Eye, and it commits to convey higher-quality virtual reality experiences, thanks to a tech dubbed as “foveated rendering.” The method lowers the objects’ picture quality on the periphery and renders sharp pictures for wherever the human eye is aiming on a virtual scene. There is no price tag attached to it yet, but it is supposed to roll out in the H2 of this year.
Eye tracking unlocks a series of chances for VR. That comprises higher-quality pictures, accessibility options, and new types of hands-free communications in VR for those who do not have the capability of using complete motion controllers. Imagine being capable of quickly opening menus, opening the web, or even searching a library of titles as well as selecting objects in a virtual surrounding by just looking at it. HTC is touting the eye-based controls with a Major League Baseball application dubbed as MLB Home Run Derby VR, which is rolling out this year.
