Trump Says GM Will Have To Pay For Its Mistakes
US President Donald Trump lashed out on GM (General Motors) CEO and said that what she did was “nasty”.
Mary Barra had recently decided to stop all the production work at 5 places of Northern America with intent to re-model their worldwide business. This step taken by the GM CEO has affected the people working in those facilities and it is also said that more than 13,000 people have lost their jobs because of this action.
The US President was not at all happy with the decision taken by GM and also said that the decision that was made just a few days before Christmas is not acceptable. He also mentioned that because of this action was taken by Barra, GM “will not be treated well.”
In defense, GM claims to have taken this big decision for the betterment of the future and the people who work with them. They also stated on Thursday that the workers that work on an hourly basis might be able to get employment in other locations.
GM also said that they are always working towards manufacturing automobiles with a plan for the future not just for the company but also for the rest of the world. The company says it is working on reaching their goal of no crashes, congestions, and emissions.
According to President Trump, Barra has made a big mistake and he also mentioned that even though he doesn’t run an automobile company, he understands that the company’s plan “to go all-electric is not going to work.”
Although GM has never expressed any plans about going “all-electric”. The President also believes that doing business will get harder for GM as they have made an agreement for trade between countries like Mexico and Canada. He also expressed his unhappiness with parts of GM automobiles being prepared in Mexico.
